The Lincoln Funeral:
An Illustrated History
by Michael Leavy
We are pleased to once again have Lima's own Mike Leavy speaking on his upcoming book slated to be published this spring. The book marks the 150th anniversary of the assassination and funeral of Abraham Lincoln. As America's first national funeral, it was a spectacle never before witnessed in this country.
Millions of citizens came out to see the train carrying Lincoln's remains from Washington to Springfield, Ill., and many more would attend moving ceremonies at stops along the way.
This richly-illustrated lecture will focus on many little known details of the fabulous train--the "Lincoln Special" that carried the deceased president's body across the country.
Please join us for this interesting historical presentation. Free and open to the public.
